The Quanta Duetto laser is the first laser in the world to offer mixed technology.Â
The unique Alexandrite (755nm) & Nd:YAG (1064nm) laser discharges these 2 wavelength’s in a choice of either a single emission, a sequential emission or a mixed emission.
Alexandrite is gold standard for lighter skin-type’s and Nd:YAG is the gold standard for darker skin-types. So having the ability to fire the wavelength’s separately or together give the Practitioner the ultimate hair removal tool and give the client the ultimate hair-removal experience.
This is achieved by the high melanin-absorption of the Alexandrite laser (755nm) and the safety profile and bulk heating capabilities of the Nd:YAG laser (1064nm)

What is mixed technology?
Until the evolution of the Quanta Duetto; Lasers have have been restricted to delivery of a single laser wavelength at a time. Traditionally this was done independently or sequentially (one after the other). The mixed technology mode on the Quanta Duetto allows the user to deliver a mixture of the both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths as the same time with varying proportions of each wavelength to suit the client.
This technology allows ultimate laser hair-removal,targeting 2 different chromophores of the hair follicle at exactly the same time. Also, as both energies are delivered together, there is less thermal damage; so represents the ultimate in safety for all skin type’s and all skin colours.Â
Why do I need mixed technology?
A traditional difficulty in laser hair-removal has centred around the ability to treat dark skins with fine hair. The Quanta Duetto laser is the ultimate platform system for this problem by mixing, with in a single laser pulse, the 2 gold standard wavelengths in hair removal. By adding a proportion of Alexandrite in with the safety of the Nd:YAG pulse means fine hairs can be treated on all skin type’s.
Alexandrite laser (755nm) is regarded as the gold standard for hair-removal for skin types 1-3/4. This is due to high absorption of this wavelengths within melanin (colouring for hair). The increased affinity means Alexandrite is the gold standard for treating thin, fine and light coloured hairs with little melanin.
Nd:YAG laser (1064nm) is the safest wavelength for treating all skin type’s; which means it can be used on dark skin type up to and including skin type 6. It has a low melanin absorption. so the wavelengths is not absorbed by colour hence its safety in treating dark skin type’s. Instead Nd:YAG targets the germative cell of the hair follicle via the vascular supply of the hair follicle. This means it even gets results on hair with no melanin in them including blond, red and grey hairs.
